Core memories Dorset is delivered by Dorset Youth and funded by YPF Trust and Henry Smith Foundation. Projects will support young people aged 14-25 in Dorset and create experiences that help the fell seen, supported, included and able to thrive.

The wider programme is a £300,000 investment into Dorset, which included £280,000 for the VCS across two rounds and a separate £20,000 Youth Panel Fund. Dates for these will be announced later

FAQ's

  • Who can apply?

    The fund is for eligible voluntary and community sector organisations that work with young people aged 14-25 in Dorset.

  • How much can we apply for?

    Organisations can apply for one or three fixed amounts: £5,000, £10,000 or £25,000

    Round 1 will be:

    x6 £5,000

    x6 £10,000

    x2 £25,000

  • Do we need match funding?

    No. Match funding is not required.

  • How should young people be involved?

    Applicants should explain how young people shaped the idea and how they will influence delivery or learning for the project.

  • How will application be assessed?

    Dorset Youth is partnering with local organisations to help assess the applications that are eligible for funding.

    Dorset Youth will first check whether applications meet the fund’s eligibility and readiness requirements.

    Eligible applications will then be considered against:

    • how well the proposal fits the purpose of Core Memories Dorset
    • the needs of the young people involved
    • its focus on the programme’s priority groups
    • meaningful involvement of young people
    • the positive experience and outcomes expected
    • whether the project is realistic and can be delivered safely
    • the clarity of the budget and value for money

    Applications will be considered within the funding available for Round 1.

  • When will round 2 open?

    Dates will be announced later including an extra round that young people can apply for £2,000 for a project that will be selected by our young person panel. More information to follow.

  • What types of project are you looking for?

    We want to support practical and imaginative projects that create positive experiences for young people.

    Projects should help young people develop one or more of the following:

    • confidence
    • a sense of belonging
    • trusted relationships
    • stronger connections with their community
    • opportunities to have their voices heard
    • positive experiences and memories
  • What can the funding be used for?

    The funding can be used for reasonable and proportionate costs directly connected to delivering your proposed project for young people.

    This could include:

    • core costs
    • staff time and freelance delivery costs
    • activities, trips and events
    • venue or facility hire
    • transport and travel
    • equipment and materials needed for the project
    • accessibility, communication and additional support costs
    • reasonable volunteer expenses
    • youth engagement and project promotion
    • monitoring, evaluation and learning
    • a proportionate contribution towards project-related overheads
