Girlguiding Dorset - Volunteer Activities Assistant
Do you love to play games, make things, try new activities, discuss ideas and work with children and young people who want to change the world? We’re looking for a team of helpers who can support our existing team of volunteer leaders to run our sessions for young people at venues all across Dorset.
You could get involved with the planning of these sessions or you could simply turn up for our Rainbow / Brownie / Guide / Ranger sessions and just get stuck in! You could attend each week or you could help out on a more flexible basis – whatever time you have spare we would love to help you make the most of it!
Helping girls and young women across Dorset aged 4-18 have fun, adventure and new opportunities is a great reward. You will also potentially gain various skills such as organisation, delivering activities, communication, teamwork, etc depending on how involved you want to get.
No specific skills are required, but a sense of humour, fun and curiosity would all be helpful! This role is available to people of any gender aged over 18 years. You would need to provide details of two referees and complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (which is free and we will help you to do). You would also need to complete our Safe Space Levels 1 and 2 online training which will take approximately 1 hour in total.
Volunteering as an activities assistant (or Unit Helper as it is known within Girlguiding!) is a great way to give something to the young people of Dorset, to learn new skills and it looks great on your cv! We’d love to have you on board as part of our team to help even more girls to have even more fun (who knows, you might just enjoy it as much as they do!).
