
Space Youth Project - Volunteer Youth Support Worker
Role involves:
● Work directly with young people to develop their social education by providing a range of activities, programs and services
● Build trusting and professional relationships with young people
● Assist in the provision of advice and support
● Promote and encourage self-confidence, esteem and empowerment with young people attending the project
● Encourage young people to take an active part in the planning and delivery of programs and in decision-making within and outside of the youth work setting
● Assist in the facilitation of group work which enables young people to work constructively with others
● Promote the safety of young people both in relation to providing a safe environment for youth work and through an awareness of child protection issues
● Promote the development of equal opportunities, including developing awareness of young people around these issues
● Develop skills to work as a reflective practitioner, and enable young people to reflect on their own learning
● Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of the services provided
● Work as part of a team
● Respect the need for confidentiality whenever you have access to restricted information; whether it is charity information or young people’s information
● Commitment to undertaking relevant training including Introduction to youth work (for those who do not hold a youth work qualification), safeguarding and other training Space Youth Project identifies as appropriate for the role
