The Magdalen Hospital Trust promotes the welfare of children and young people under the age of 25 who suffer from various effects of social deprivation, abuse, mental and physical handicap, inadequate housing, lack of education or training, and the problems derived from unemployment and lone parent families. The Trust prefers to support small community groups with an element of trained volunteers and self-help who are carrying out practical work in front-line situations.

Applicants should be working with vulnerable children and young adults, especially those at risk of sexual and other forms of exploitation.

Grants are awarded for projects rather than core costs. Examples of the type of project that could be supported include (please note this is not an exclusive list):

o Counselling services for young people.
o Mental health support.
o Personal development and training opportunities, and
o Play schemes.

One-off grants, normally for between £200 and £3,000, are available to small UK registered charities with an annual income of under £150,000.

The Trust’ annual grants budget rarely exceeds £50,000. Its most recent published accounts on the Charity Commission website are for the year ended 5 April 2022. During the year, the Trust awarded 40 grants totalling £68,312.

A list of all grants awarded during the year can be viewed on page 8 of its Annual Report.

Funding is not available for:

o Charities with an annual income in excess of £150,000.
o Individuals.
o National charities.
o Non registered charities, or
o Overseas charities with no links to a UK charity.

Further information, guidance and an application form can be found on the Trust’s website.
