Bournemouth Youth Marching Band
About Organisation
We are the Bournemouth Youth Marching Band (BYMB). We started in 1989 as the Talbot Corps of Drums and reformed as the Bournemouth Youth Marching Band in 2013.
We meet every Wednesday from 6.30pm to 9pm at the Bourne Academy in Hadow Rd, BH10 5HS and occasionally during the day on a Sunday.
Our youngest musicians are just 8 years old and many new recruits join the Band with no previous musical experience. The Band is also a great opportunity for more experienced young musicians to broaden and develop their playing skills. BYMB is much more than a marching band. We have a multi-functional capability and we perform in concerts, parades, displays and tattoos. We use brass, woodwind and percussion instruments to play great music from a broad range of genres. Our repertoire is regularly refreshed for our events throughout the year.
We provide a safe meeting place, instruments, music, uniform, tuition, training and performance opportunities. In addition to Band we provide all the activities and facilities expected of a music centre and a youth organisation. Our youth members are at the heart of everything we do. The Band's Adult volunteers help the children and young people develop their music making skills.
During the last couple of years four of our members have been accepted into the UK Armed Forces. One is now with the Mounted Band of the Household Cavalry, Royal Corps of Army Music and two are with the Royal Marines Band Service. Join BYMB and we can help you turn a hobby into a professional musical career.
