Dorchester Youth & Community Centre

Dorchester Youth and Community Centre (DYCC) is a charity which provides a safe place for young people to relax, have fun and develop their social networks. DYCC sets out to enrich the lives of young people within our local community, to provide safe and fun opportunities that support their social and emotional development. DYCC serves the needs of young people within Dorchester and the surrounding villages. It particularly tries to connect with disadvantaged and minority groups. Through well led and inspirational Youth Work, DYCC supports the needs and aspirations of young people, promoting young people as role models and positive assets within the community.

Youth sessions are run by skilled and experienced Youth Workers, they are young people led, with sports, music, food, games, cooking, support and loads more.

• Open access youth club sessions run every night of the week for school years 6-10+.

• At the weekend, Saturday Club takes place which is a youth club for young people aged 11-25 who have special educational needs disabilities (SEND).

• Networks is a project which takes place during the daytime, twice a week and is set up for young people who are not in education, training or employment (NEET) or young people who at risk of becoming NEET; it’s all about supporting young people to get to where they want to be. It's a FREE drop-in session.

• Paradise Club runs weekly, it is a youth club session for young people who have siblings with SEND.

• Through outreach/detached DYCC engages with young people out in the community, taking Youth Work to where young people are for example, Poundbury, Stratton, Charminster and Dorchester Town Centre providing a range of activities and access to support.

Activities are organised and supervised by qualified Youth Workers, Adult Volunteers and Senior Member Helpers. Throughout all our services we provide confidential advice, signposting and support.
