About Organisation

WHO WE ARE

Purbeck Youth & Community Foundation is a charitable organisation and was formed in 2016 by local volunteers in response to Dorset County Council’s appeal for community groups to take over the management of youth centres.

WHAT WE DO

Our aim is to help and support young people in Purbeck. We manage Wareham Youth and Community Centre and run weekly sessions at Corfe Castle and Wool youth clubs. We provide age-related evening sessions at Wareham - plus lunchtime access for students at the adjacent Purbeck School. We also organise one day trips and residential activities. A Duke of Edinburgh Award group meets fortnightly and the local Gateway Club uses our facilities on a weekly basis. We offer one to one mentoring with young people and offer activities within school settings to boost confidence and self-esteem.

Most importantly our qualified staff support young people's individual needs and when necessary, signpost them to further help on a diverse range of issues. We work in partnership with many agencies who regularly use our premises to meet young people in their environment. Our members have highlighted the club as somewhere they feel safe, where they can meet friends and make new friends, relax, enjoy themselves and take advantage of new opportunities.
