Space Youth Project

Welcoming all young gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBT+) people up to age 25 across Dorset since 2001!
We started with one group based in Bournemouth and over the years, Space has grown and grown! We now have seven regular free youth groups across Dorset which are open to any lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans or questioning (LGBT+) young person under the age of 25! We also offer one-to-one support, family support, workshops for schools, colleges or youth groups, and professional training.

Young people are able to talk openly about whatever they like and they are all at different stages of their journey; they can and do help each other. We have been to the BBC and also to the first ever Trans Youth Network Conference which was in Manchester. We deliver workshops in schools to help educate and raise awareness of trans issues, which can be used for students and also staff.

Our Aims:

Empower - We empower young people to have positive self-esteem, to know they are supported, to have a sense of community and to facilitate freedom of expression.

Overcome - We overcome and help with integration, and address issues caused or intensified by prejudice.
We also provide access to additional support and services.

Support - We support young people who are or may be lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans or questioning their sexuality and/or gender identity.
