What
Finding family activities that are fun, safe and welcoming for Autistic and socially anxious children can get harder as our children get older. Our regular ASCape Family Activity Afternoons are designed to provide exciting, accessible and social activities for children aged 4-14. The children have tonnes of fun. Parents and carers do too and they really value the opportunity for peer support and understanding. Older children and young adults are also welcome to attend these activities if it’s something that interests them. Volunteers hold a DBS, and are safeguarding-trained, with experience of autism and mental health challenges.
ASCape Family Activity Afternoons have included den building, kayaking, fossiling, swimming and bowling and much, much more.
We also run clubs and workshops suitable for some of this age group and these have involved art, gardening, music production and woodworking.
Teens & Nearly Teens also have a monthly drop in ASCape Teen Youth Club.
“Everything at ASCape oozes friendly, relaxed, approachable, accessible and safe vibes for all!” Jo, mum to 14-year old girl
“Most memorable is the Music Workshop with Gary. We’re going to be attending some more over the summer. I loved that it was very relaxed and that my children were able to be as involved as they liked. My son was very impressed whereas my daughter decided it wasn’t for her but while there was no pressure to be involved, the invitation was open. My son loved the creativity and exploring different ways to create music. Gary was lovely with them and his enthusiasm meant that the children all wanted to be involved and get creative.” Siobhan, mum to 6 and 8 year olds
