The Phoenix Youth Band (Beaminster)
About Project
12 years of young people making music and showing off some incredible talent. The youth band has gone through many guises in its life so far and has currently settled on “The Phoenix”. Striving to empower and inspire young people through the medium of music focussing on aspects such as playing in a group, learning songs of different genres, setting up professional music equipment and playing in front of an audience. The band seeks to encourage and instil the confidence in young people to express themselves through music - whether that is by playing an instrument or singing the words.
Many of the songs learned by the band are requested by the young people and during the shows we play, they take centre stage. We currently play music from Bryan Adams to Ed Sheeran and many others in between spanning genres like pop, dance and rock.
The sessions run on Tuesday evenings at Prout Bridge between 6-8pm (we even open the coffee bar for refreshments in the middle of the session).
The band is run by our two leaders, Lisa and Ollie, who were once in the band as members and are now the team behind it. They arrange the songs, learn the parts and then teach them to the young members.
During the months of April to September (gig season!) the band entertains the masses at local festivals and gig, rounding off the year with some Christmas themed music during the holiday season too. We also run fundraisers in aid of our Beaminster Youth Club which are always popular.
If you are interested in joining the band, please email tony@proutbridgeproject.com as numbers are limited.
