About Project

Dorset Mind's Mentoring Minds service is for 11-17yr Olds with mild to moderate mental health needs. This service was created in response to Covid-19, and the rising need to reach out to young people in their homes. Each participant is offered a session of up to 60 minutes once a week for up to 3 months. This service can provide young people with emotional support and help them to set and reach their own goals and find solutions.

Self-referral is available on the Dorset Mind website.

Once you have completed an application form, you (or your parent/carer) will be contacted by our coordinator within 6 weeks, who will book in an informal assessment to get to know you better and talk you through how the service works.

Once you are happy with the arrangements, you will have an introductory call/Zoom meeting with your Volunteer Mentor which will allow you to get a better feel of the service and talk through any worries or issues you may have.
