Girlguiding Dorset - Volunteer ID Verifier

Would you be able to use your communication and organisational skills to support new volunteers to get involved in Girlguiding?

Do you enjoy filling in online forms and meeting new people? Are you a process-driven person who likes to make sure things are done properly? By taking on this volunteer role you will indirectly be helping to offer the fun and adventure of Girlguiding to more girls and young women aged 4-18 across Dorset.

We’re looking for one or two extra people to take responsibility for carrying out Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks on our volunteers when they join us and every three years thereafter. We need to do these checks to help keep our young members and our organisation safe. This volunteer role involves meeting our volunteers (usually during a Rainbow / Brownie / Guide / Ranger unit meeting but it could be at another time and place to suit you & the other volunteer), helping them with the online form and then checking their ID (passport, driving licence, etc). This is not a role with a big time commitment (probably 2-3 hours a month on average) but it does involve making sure details are accurately entered online and reminding people to submit their details to you.

You will meet our wonderful team of volunteers and by helping us with this vital part of our administrative practice you will know you are helping to create a safe space for girls and young women to thrive, learn and have fun in. We give all girls the opportunity to know they can do anything - and we would love you to help us to achieve that!

To do this volunteer role you must be computer literate, but otherwise full training will be given. You would also need to be willing to undertake a DBS check (which of course is excellent practice for the role!) and provide two references as well as completing our Safe Space Level 1 online e-learning which will take approx. 30 minutes and we can support you with this as needed.

This volunteer role is open to people of any gender aged over 18 years.
