Activity runs weekly
The activity runs from 29 November 2024 to 29 November 2025. The Dorset Youth does not manage bookings for this activity and is not responsible for the delivery of the project. If you have any questions, please contact the organisation directly.
Sessions usually run during the school holidays except for the summer holidays.
What
During sessions beginners learn how to read music, play instrument and practice their marching and display skills. Whilst experienced young musicians have band rehearsal and training.
In addition to music we also value and promote important life skills such as commitment, teamwork, respect, determination, confidence, honesty, responsibility, self-discipline and leadership. Everyone works together to flourish as a Band. Members in our band develop their musical skills in a friendly, modern, fun and supportive environment. We have fun activities as well including trips to theme parks, awards evenings, games and beach parties. There is also a trip abroad every two years or so.
Learning an instrument in the Band is not just about sitting down and playing musical notes on a page. It's about making great friends, building confidence and gaining valuable lifelong skills.
There is no minimum standard required to join. All standards and abilities are welcome. For younger members who may be new to music or playing an instrument we aim to teach you everything you need to know. We ask that you practice regularly at home as this is key to progress.
Your first month is free and then after that there is a £20 joining fee and a membership subscription of £10 per month.
